Behind the Book
For quite a few years I knew I wanted to write a book about a heroine who believed she was dying. I was fascinated by how that knowledge might change her behaviour and what she might decide to do with her remaining months. Would she withdraw into herself? Fall back on the support of family and friends or go out and tick things off her bucket list? Finally, after a year when my own family was challenged with ill health, I worked out how I could write the story and still give my heroine a happy ending.
As Imogen doesn't have family to support her she decides to make a trip to Europe that ends up changing her life (for the better). Her bucket list includes seeing Iceland and Venice, London and Paris. I didn't have room for all those travels in the book so I focused on Paris, a city which to so many seems the epitome of romance. Imogen is there to experience new thrills, like driving a convertible around the Arc de Triomphe and go hot air ballooning. The biggest thrill though, comes when she meets the charming, attentive Thierry and indulges in a grand affair. I've included below a few of my photos of Paris and of one of the grand chateaus in the Dordogne Region that inspired me as I wrote about Thierry's home.
I hope you have a ball reading about Imogen and Thierry's last chance romance!Reviews Excerpt Inspiration Return
